According to the article below posted on The Star today, milk products manufacturers will benefit from lower raw material price following decline of milk prices internationally.  


Milk powder is major raw material for Johore Tin's dairy division, the bulk of which are exported. Can we expect a strong set of result in coming quarters due to a combination of low raw material cost as well as strong US dollars ?


My article is written based on publicly available information. Please don't blame me if Johore Tin's coming quarter results does not meet your expectation.

Dutch Lady, F&N post strong gains on falling raw material costs
PETALING JAYA: Shares of dairy companies such Dutch Lady Milk Industries Bhd and Fraser & Neave Holdings Bhd (F&N) have seen strong gains in the year-to-date period, driven largely by falling raw material costs.
Usually viewed as defensive and recession proof counters, the shares of both companies were given a boost as investors expected the low raw material prices to lead to a rise in profit margins for these leading consumer companies.
Industry players said that while bigger customers had a certain leverage to bargain for lower end-prices from these consumer giants, the drop in prices was not yet apparent for consumers buying off the shelf.
The industry players added that whether the cost savings from lower material costs would be passed on to the end consumer would also depend on factors such as competitive pressures.
“Pricing (by players like Dutch Lady and F&N) may also depend on the exchange rate. But generally the lower material costs are a net positive to their bottomlines as they could already afford to lower their prices for bulk buyers,” an industry source said.
Class III milk futures traded on the Chicago Mercantile Exchange for February 2014 delivery had seen a steep fall of about 25% since the middle of last year to a low of US$16.11 per 2,000 hundredweights (cwt).
Their prices had recovered slightly at press time to US$18.90 per cwt but analysts say that falls could resume should the overall commodity complex see further declines.
Shares of Dutch Lady and F&N had racked up commendable gains of 11.13% and 6.2% respectively in the year-to-date period to RM47.12 and RM18.52 on Friday’s close.
Both counters have outperformed the broader FTSE Bursa Malaysia KL Composite Index that rose 1.47% in the same period.
CIMB Research analyst Eing Kar Mei said in her recent report that despite the challenging operating environment on the impending goods and services tax (GST), F&N could still deliver on a bottomline basis on the launch of new products and lower raw material costs.
She rated the stock an “add” with a target price of RM24.52 noting that there could be upside potential to earnings forecast if raw material prices decline further.
“From my understanding, the steep drop in milk prices and more than able to offset the drop in the value of the ringgit for the company,” Eing said.
While Kenanga Research’s Soong Wei Siang had a “market weight” rating on Dutch Lady with a target price of RM44.22.
Other analysts also said that other than raw material costs, interest in these shares could also have been boosted by their dividend growth prospects.
Dutch Lady had seen strong growth in its dividends of 20.6% annualised in the five years prior while F&N saw a more modest dividend growth of 3.19%, according to data on Bloomberg data.
At present prices, F&N had an indicative gross yield of 2.97% while Dutch Lady at 2.33%.
However fund managers were cautious on both Dutch Lady and F&N, considering that both companies were trading at historic highs and were tagged with high valuations.
Dutch Lady with a market capitalisation of RM3.02bil is trading at a trailing price to earnings ratio (PER) of 27.86 times and an enterprise value to earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortisation (EV/EBITDA) of 18.19 times.
While F&N that had a market capitalisation of RM6.78bil last traded at a trailing PER of 26.08 times and an EV/EBITDA of 16.79 times.

Antimicrobial products are normally added into the feed and are used to terminate or inhibit the growth of microorganisms such as bacteria or fungi in the feed.


Anti-mould and Antifungal Products
Anti-mould and antifungal products are used by feed millers and farmers to eliminate the existence and growth of fungus and moulds in feeds

Toxin Binder
Toxin binder is a type of binder that is used to bind toxins that exist in feeds. The toxins, known as mycotoxins, are produced by moulds that are found in feedstuff such as corns and peanuts. These moulds can invade the feedstuff during various stages - the growing stages in the fields, during harvesting, during transporting, and even during storage. The existence of mycotoxins result in poor livestock growth; poor feed conversion as well as increased susceptibility to diseases.


Probiotic Products
Probiotic products are products that contain live microorganisms that are believed to be healthy to the host organism, in this case the livestock. Probiotics are often used to inhibit competitive pathogenic bacteria from propagating.


Natural Growth Promoters
Natural growth promoters are feed additives and it can be broken down into various types such as organic acids, probiotics, prebiotics, synbiotics, phytobiotics and immune stimulants. Natural growth promoters are preferred over antibiotic growth promoters as it does not bear any risk regarding bacterial resistance or develop unwanted residue in animal products.


Phytobiotic Feed Additive
A type of natural growth promoters, phytobiotics are available in various forms and originated from leaves, roots, tubers or fruits of herbs and spices. It is widely used in feed additives as a result of its antibacterial and antioxidative properties.

SOLDAS is running inside a computer, it communicate with equipment through I/O hardware that installed on the equipment control panel, it provide the following features:

How TC Wipes service work?
  • Based on the factors like the number of employees using wiper cloths, your usage of another wiping product or your usage with another service, we estimate your requirements for TC wiper cloths.
  • After we have agreed on your expected usage, we determine the number of TC wiper cloths assigned to your account to support that level of usage. The quantity is called your inventory.
  • Your inventory should include enough wipes so that you do not run out of stock at any time in between the pick up and delivery cycle.
  • Each delivery, we pick up the wipes that you have used, count them in our plant, and have them replaced immediately.
  • It is normal that some cloths will be lost in use in your plant. It is very common that 2%-10% of your monthly usage will be lost. These units are usually accidentally thrown in the trash or pilfered. To prevent shortage we provide an automatic replacement programme that replaces lost or pilfered cloths. (Excess losses will be charged)
  • We will work with your employee to help control wiper cloth loss by providing training, cloth conservation posters and quarterly usage recaps.
  • It is the job of our Service Representative to monitor your weekly usage, inventory and losses so that you always have an adequate supply of clean cloth, at the lowest cost.

Container Gate Security System (CGSS)
Container Gate Security System is designed to be used in organizations which require vehicle authorization and authentication to enter into their premises. The system checks the authenticity of the driver and the vehicle before granting access. The system is integrated with heavy duty automatic barrier gates and captures detailed information of all exit and entry at a given barrier gate.
Real Time Monitoring System (RTMS)
RTMS is a client-server based solution for monitoring activities within the port. Its core objective is to make visible the real-time efficiency of operations within a port such as monitoring the current location and also the movement of RTG, cranes and vessels in a single display. RTMS obtains data from operational systems within the port.
Haulage Booking System (HDBS)
HDBS automates haulage depot booking operations by engaging, managing & administering bookings done for both drop-off and pick-up by haulage operator, offering improved operational efficiency and flexibility with lower operational cost. HDBS allows depot operators to monitor turnaround time for haulages on a real-time basis.
E-Secure
E-Secure combines automated gate security operations and visitor management system (VMS) with incident reporting functionalities for high-traffic premises to ensure proper security monitoring at all times.  E-Secure enables the organization to reduce time spent in managing security by speeding up registration process. It also allows tracking of registration, duration of stay and visiting history at a click of a button.
Conventional Cargo System (NGCCS)
NGCCS introduces a new operating concept in the management of conventional cargo terminals. It facilitates electronic submission of Notification of Vessel Arrival, Berth Application, Hatch List, Storage Requisition, Integrated Import Documents and Integrated Shipping Documents through the web and self-service printing of Gate Pass and Cargo Receipts.

NGCCS also incorporates a Central Control Center to monitor all operational events happening in the terminal through graphical screens and CCTV monitors to appraise the status of operation at the wharf, open yard and at the gate. The system streamlines and automates transactions by computerizing all work processes and procedures, with a mission-critical framework that operates 24 hours a day and 7 days a week.
E-Terminal Plus (eTP+)
E-Terminal Plus system is a community based application for the Port community that automates interactions between various stakeholders and the port with core emphasis on reducing processing time, hence creating an interactive customer relationship whereby submission and retrieval of information is done in a more simplified manner.

e-TP is built using Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) concept. SOA uses standard protocols and conventional interfaces, typically web services which would allow different applications to exchange data with one another as they participate in business processes
Smart Card Security System (SCSS)
The Smart Card Security System is designed specifically for logistic organizations in order to provide the best security checks at all entry points. Its objectives are to increase efficiency of port operations, ensure minimal interruptions during confirmation and verification procedures at assigned container gate terminals.

Contactless smart card and reader implementation provide faster entry yet more secure access control. Each card access is monitored closely to ensure security integrity and access levels are observed, thus preventing abuse or unauthorized access. The system can be interfaced with port’s container management system to provide necessary checks before granting entry or exit to a particular prime mover. It is robust, mobile and requires less maintenance which allows the system to be easily integrated with any door or security access, be it manual, automatic or magnetic.

Biometric Time Attendance System (BTAS)
BTAS moves away from the traditional punch-card method by automating the time attendance process using smart card and biometric technology to authenticate and register employee attendance to achieve a higher level of efficiency and productivity.

The system collects data via 2 simple devices: ID smart card and a biometric/smart reader card. It also allows reporting at the touch of a button.
Online Status Report System (OSRS)
The Online Status Reporting System is a web-based system which aims to promote the use of electronic medium in reporting, reviewing and managing weekly or periodic status updates by employees to their respective superiors. Employees would be able to record their updates, while their superiors would be able to provide feedback or specify a follow-up flag if requires.
OSRS would change the traditional way of status reporting through printed reports and would promote the concept of paperless office.
Asset and Maintenance Management System (AMMS)
AMMS is a fully web-based system that provides functionalities that help maximize the efficiency of operations and minimize the costs of maintenance. It provides workflow/business process templates that increase speed and accuracy of data input/retrieval by establishing set protocols and screen accessibility based on either job title or task. It also provides real-time tracking of mobile assets and rotatable spares via bar-coding or hand-held computer.

The smart-card can also be used as an ID and is also capable of storing other related information based on the memory of the smart-card.
